Already a community hub with all of the free information, as well as being a bookshop and fully licensed cafe, Hares & Hyenas is an inviting and friendly place to relax in. Now we want it to become Melbourne’s most vibrant queer performance venue. Over the past few months, we’ve got our technical equipment up to scratch, including installing three very effective LED theatre lights, rehousing all the sound system controls (getting rid of all those nasty wires) so we have a full control booth behind the Hare Hole counter.

Over the next couple of months we are developing a range of events, and we hope soon to have at least two or three nights a week dedicated to launches, readings, performances and film nights. Some of these will be regular events, others one-offs. We are also inviting everybody from the community to start using the Hare Hole for your next function or any regular or irregular gatherings you might like to have here.

Stay tuned and keep on creating queer culture.
